New Small Group Book Study

Beginning on Monday, January 12 and running for six weeks, Pastor Jonah will lead a small group book study using “If You Want to Walk on Water You’ve Got to Get Out of the Boat” by John Ortberg. Pastor will offer two sessions, one at 10:00am and one at 7:00pm on Mondays. If interested, please sign up in the narthex by December 29th. Each group will be limited to 12 participants.

Advent Bible Study

Around the ninth century Christians widely adopted the candlelit wreath for the weeks preceding Christmas Tide. Each candle has a significance during Advent and this year we will focus on the titles/themes of Prophecy, Bethlehem, Shepherds and Angels. Plan on an hour over beverages as we take time to focus on the hope and promise of Christmas at 10:30 AM and 7:00 PM on Wednesdays during Advent, beginning December 3. This Bible study will be facilitated by Pastor Jonah and everyone is invited to attend.

Sunday School

Age-grouped Christian education events are held at 9:30 am on Sunday mornings between worship services. Pre-K through Junior High uses “Growing in Christ” materials to examine the Bible and learn to express their faith. The sessions include readings, activities and crafts.  High Schoolers gather together to study scripture. Two adult classes are also offered.

Small Groups

Adults are invited to gather with brothers and sisters in Christ to study and examine Scripture and interesting topics.  These groups meet at church or in homes to provide opportunities for conversation, consolation and challenges as each is appropriate.  Current groups are (1) Tuesday Morning Bible Study;  and (2) Religion as a Cultural System.

Confirmation Class

The Rite of Confirmation marks the movement from the childhood ministry of the church into the adult ministry of the church.  If you would like to participate, please contact Pastor Burakowski.

6th Grade class meets 6:30-7:30pm on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month, October 19, 2014 – May 10, 2015.

7th/8th Grade class meets 6:00-7:15pm on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month, October 12, 2014 – May 10, 2015 (8th graders will perform their Public Profession of Faith on Sunday May 3, 2015).

First Communion Classes

Living Hope has a policy that permits First Communion before Confirmation.  Once a year Pastor invites children who are completing the fifth grade and at least one parent or mentor for four sessions that prepare the youth for their First Communion.  Younger children are welcome to ask to be part of the training as well if their parents and Pastor agree.
